Touché (Gabriel)

As a strategy game in 1978 Touché was very magical. The playing pieces were small, see-through plastic domes, each containing a disc that would flip-flop when moved. Back then this was going to be the kind of success that my Connect Four was experiencing. The manufacturer, Gabriel, was owned by CBS at the time and was prepared with a very big TV campaign. However, just as Touché was about to be launched, Milton Bradley introduced Simon, the first electronic game in the toy industry, with great fanfare and huge TV promotions. Touché paled by comparison. The expression “timing is everything” is very apropos here.
