Satin Dolls (Fisher Price)

They were dolls with a very special satin fabric. The idea came to me one day when I thought of a song by the same name that I enjoyed very much. The song was “Satin Doll,” written in 1953 by Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer, and Billy Stryhorn. I find it interesting how a song could result in a child’s product manufactured by a very prestigious toy company like Fisher Price.
